CONTROLLED ASSESSMENTS
Monday 22nd
You will continue with Assignment 1b and 1a - your priority will be to complete both by Wednesday the 1st of November. If for 1b you want to use photographs you will have to take them in advance and print them and bring them in. You will need to take care in the production of these, think about framing, lighting and mise en scene. We have analysed images so you have some knowledge of this.
If you are drawing it you can as you know draw celebrities if they are part of your proposed magazine cover. Remember that you are targeting a specific audience and using particular techniques to do this. Who are they and how do get them to buy your magazine based on the front cover?

CONTROLLED ASSESSMENT HOMEWORK
Develop CA by researching your chosen front cover in detail.
Focus on audience: how an audience is attracted? who the audience is and what tells us this? Think about the demographic of the audience; what social class, age, gender etc. What the audience gets from the Magazine cover?
Media Know it All
Check out the link above for information on audience.

EXAMPLE OF ANALYSIS
For reference here is another example of a decent analysis of a magazine cover. Use this to prompt you into improving your work. You may make notes and bring them along to the lesson on Wednesday.
The more preparation you do outside of class the better your work will be during the Controlled Assessment.
Good Luck!

MONDAY 8TH NOVEMBER
CONTROLLED ASSESSMENTS BEGIN
Please ensure that you find and bring two magazine covers to Monday's lesson. These can be copies or the original but must be colour. You will be expected to have both and if you fail to bring any you will be given others by me which will be used for your Controlled Assessment.
Also bring any other resources that you think you may need especially coloured pencils, rulers, pens etc.
Remember that during the controlled assessment I will NOT be able to give you specific help, but only general feedback. You are expected by now to have grasped the key concepts and to use the terminology you have been taught. You have had examples of good work and how to lay out your work, you know the marking criteria, it is now up to you to do your best under near exam conditions.
